What is Hold Fast Veterans Sailing?

Hold Fast Veterans Sailing gives Veterans the opportunity to experience the freedom, challenge, and connection that come from being out on the water.

Through sailing, Veterans can learn new skills, build confidence, and become part of a supportive crew rooted in trust, friendship, loyalty, and team spirit. Whether someone is stepping onto a sailboat for the first time or hoping to eventually learn how to race, Hold Fast Veterans Sailing creates a welcoming path for Veterans to grow at their own pace.

The organization was founded by Vietnam Veteran Don Miller, whose lifelong love of sailing inspired him to share that passion with others. Don’s decision to donate his boat to the nonprofit was a meaningful way to preserve his legacy and open the door for fellow Veterans to experience the same joy, purpose, and peace he found on the water.

At its heart, Hold Fast Veterans Sailing is about more than sailing. It’s about connection. It’s about belonging. It’s about giving Veterans a place to come together, support one another, and discover what’s possible when they work as a crew.
